Adelaide DeMello

Adelaide (Domingos) DeMello 99 of Acushnet, formerly of New Bedford, passed away at home on Wednesday May 17, 2017. She was the wife of the late Edward C. DeMello and daughter of the late Paschoal and Gracinda (Calvao) Domingos. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Adelaide was formerly employed as a stitcher for Justin Clothing until her retirement. She was a life member of the Freetown VFW and the Panthers Golden Agers. Survivors include her sons Edward Dias and Robert Edward DeMello both of New Bedford, her daughters Dorothy Zell of Marion and Margaret Liberty of Acushnet; her brother Antonio Domingos of New Bedford and Florida, her sister Matilda Prenda of New Bedford, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Monday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Sunday 5-8pm. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
