Adriano Vaz 88 of New Bedford, died unexpectedly at Boston Medical Center on Monday April 5, 2010. He was the husband of the late Celestina "Sally" (Silva) Vaz and son of the late Eugenio and Ana (Ferreira) Vaz. He was born in New Bedford and was a lifelong resident. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Mr. Vaz was formerly employed by Campanella Construction and New Bedford Seafood's fuel division. He was a proud member of the Teamsters, Teamsters and Friends retirement club serving as treasurer, VFW in Freetown, Panthers Athletic and Social club serving as president, treasurer and auditor, he was the former president of the Panthers Golden Agers, American Portuguese War Veterans and a member of the former I.C. Seniors. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WW II. He was everything to everybody. Survivors include his sons Ronald Vaz and his wife Maria of New Bedford, Daniel and his wife Kris of Townsend, MA, his sister Celeste "Sally" Vaz of New Bedford, his grandchildren Amy Vaz, Matthew Vaz, Eric Vaz, Nicole Vaz, Tara Dillberg, his great-granddaughter Adrianna, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Domingos Botelho and Clotilde "Tillie" Nobrega. His funeral mass will be said 9am Friday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8pm. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery.
