Alberto F. Coelho

Alberto F. Coelho, 89, passed away at the Atria of Fairhaven on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Born in Linhares, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose Maria Coelho and the late Elisa (Ferreira) Coelho and loving husband of Assuncao (Mendes) Coelho.

After immigrating to the United States in 1957 Alberto began his career as a tailor with Cliftex Clothing Corp., where he worked with dedication and pride for 34 years until his retirement. Even after retiring, he continued doing what he loved, tailoring and repairing clothing from his home, helping countless friends, neighbors, and family members.

Alberto was also a proud co-founder of the Portuguese American Athletic Club, where he helped build a strong sense of community and friendship for generations to come. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends. He will be remembered for his hard work, kindness, craftsmanship, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him.

Alberto is survived by his wife, Assuncao; daughter, Elisa Hanzelka and her husband Steve of TX; son, Aurelio Coelho and his wife Donna of CT; grandchildren, Christina Coelho, Diana Mallory and her husband Kevin, Eric Collard and his wife Ashley, Laura Clark and her husband Jeremy, Stefanie McDougan and her husband Andrew; great grandchildren, Taylor Geffert and her husband Tristin, Brodie Clark, Penelope Coelho, Braedyn Coelho, Isla Mallory, Oliver Mallory, Makenna Doyle, Caden Doyle; brother Agostinho Coelho and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandson Jonathan Coelho, brother Jacinto Coelho and sister Maria Jose Figuerido.

His visitation will be held at the Boulevard Funeral Home on Friday, June 12, 2026, his 90th birthday, from 8:00am – 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
