Alice (Pacheco) Semiao, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2012 after a courageous fight against cancer. Alice was the devoted wife of the late Manuel G. Semiao, Jr., loving mother to Ron Semiao of Farmington, CT and loving mother-in-law to his wife, Donna Sultan-Semiao. Alice was the daughter of the late Jose J. Pacheco and Maria (Constantina) Pacheco. Alice was born in Taunton, MA, lived most of her life in New Bedford, MA, 20-plus years in East Hartford, CT and the last year-and-a-half with her son and daughter-in-law in Farmington, CT. She was a lady of strong faith, a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in New Bedford and of Saint Christopher’s in East Hartford during her Connecticut years. Alice worked as a supervisor of women’s apparel manufacturing in Hartford, CT before retiring in 1981. After retiring, she moved back to New Bedford, joined the Panthers Golden Agers club living a very active, fun and full life with friends and family, spreading joy, kindness and humor to all she met. Alice became a devout fan of the Boston Red Sox, watching virtually every game on TV for years. The Red Sox 2012 season may have been her undoing.

During the last year-and-a-half Alice was blessed with the extraordinary compassion, assistance and understanding of her caregiver, Lisa Tefoe along with Lisa’s husband Jim, sons Tanner, Tyler, Thomas and Lisa’s mom, Linda. Their dedication provided Alice great comfort and quality of life along with tremendous support for her son, Ron and daughter-in-law, Donna. In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, survivors include brothers Manuel Pacheco of Dartmouth and Edward Pacheco of New Bedford; Godchildren Lionel Medeiros of New Bedford, Robert Medeiros of Charlotte, NC and Marissa Pacheco of Dartmouth, MA., also several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Germina Medeiros, Ethel Courtemanche, Joseph Pacheco, Anibal Pacheco and John Pacheco.

Family and close friends may call on Friday from 9:30-10:30am. Her funeral Mass will be at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford, MA with burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, 664 Allen St., New Bedford, MA Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, (800) 227-2345; www.cancer.org .
