Ana (DaSilva) Afonso, 60, of Dartmouth passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Milford Regional Medical Center after a long hard FIGHT with stomach cancer. Born in Mourilhe, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Joao DaSilva and Clementina DaSilva. Ana immigrated to the United States at the age of nine and later worked as a stitcher at Cliftex. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. Ana is survived by Jose Leal Afonso, her loving husband of 41 years, her mother, Clementina of New Bedford, her two sons Daniel Afonso of Westport and John Afonso and his wife Kelli of Dartmouth, her brothers Antonio DaSilva and his wife Maria of Milford and Manuel DaSilva of New Bedford, her seven grandchildren Kyla, Dakotah, Tarel, Essence, Talan, Chase and Vally who she cherished and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ana was known for her special way of loving everyone. Ana’s incredible courage, strength and her will to keep fighting to live was amazing to witness and an inspiration to all who knew her. Ana was a kind soul with a huge heart and she will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. Ana loved to cook and to enjoy meals in the company of her family. She also loved to sew and she was very good at it. Family meant the world to her and she meant the world to her family. She is going to be deeply missed beyond what words could express. Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, funeral services will be held privately with her family. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
