Angela Barrigas

Angela (Ferreira) Barrigas, 85 of New Bedford, passed away at home surrounded by her family on November 28th. Born in Souto Velho, Portugal, she was daughter to the late Luis Ferreira and the late Rosa (Cardoso) Ferreira and her husband, the late Hector Barrigas. 

Angela was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend. She dedicated her life to taking care of others including her mother for many years until her passing and helped raise several of her grandchildren.  Her priority was her family and she was most happy surrounded by them. She was still a child herself, in Portugal, caring for her six brothers, cooking, mending socks, baking bread while her parents worked in the fields.  Her home was filled with love, laughter, and much food…always!

Angela is survived by her sons; Frank Barrigas and wife, Trish, Gus Barrigas and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Ciara, Courtney; great grandchildren, Mila, Evander; brothers; Henrique Ferreira and wife, Domingas, Acacio Ferreira and wife, Dorothy, Antonio Ferreira and wife, Anna, Arthur Ferreira and wife, Judy, Alfred Ferreira and late wife, Linda, John Ferreira and wife, Mary; brother-in-law, Francisco Barriga and several nieces and nephews. 

A visitation will be held Sunday, December 3^rd from 2-4pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at 8:45am on Monday, December 4^th. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Angela’s name to a charity of your choosing.
