Antonio Resendes

Antonio Resendes 90 of New Bedford passed away Thursday July 30, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Maria (Barbosa) Resendes and son of the late Antonio and Maria (Secia) deMelo. He was born in Faial de Terra, St. Michael and had lived here since 1971. Mr. Resendes was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was formerly employed as a fish cutter for Frionor until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, his daughters Maria Raposo of Acushnet, Carmelia Resendes of Canada, Teresinha Gerber of Mattapoisett, Dina Marques of New Bedford and Brenda Santos of Acushnet; his sister Maria Eva Moniz of Taunton; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. His funeral mass will be said 9am Monday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Sunday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery.
