Arnaldo Alves

Arnaldo Alves 81 of New Bedford passed away Monday September 30, 2019 at St. Luke’s hospital. He was the husband of Maria A. (Gomes) Alves and son of the late Norberto Alves and Idalina Fernandes. He was born in Chaves, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for 42 years. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Arnaldo was formerly employed as a machine operator at Star Plating until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, 5 children including, his sons, Manuel Norberto Alves of New Bedford and Michael Gomes Alves of New Bedford, his daughters Teresa Alves Garcia of Texas and Luzia Alves McCuen of New Bedford, his brothers Manuel Alves of New Bedford and Elidio Alves of Westport, his sister Estrela Pereira of New Bedford. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren also 10 nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the Joao Alves of Brazil. His funeral mass will be said 10am Friday October 4 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Visitation will be Friday morning from 8:30 until 9:30 at the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery.
