Artur Mourao

Artur Mourao 92 of New Bedford passed away Friday March 21, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Ana D. (Dias) Mourao. He was born in New Bedford and returned to Portugal when he was 18 months old, returning to New Bedford in 1960. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Mr. Mourao was a carpenter for various contractors and had also worked at Coyne Laundry. Survivors include his wife; his sons Arlindo Mourao and his wife Maria Fernanda of New Bedford, Jose Mourao of New Bedford, Jaime Mourao and his wife Peggy of Marion, Robert Mourao and his wife Lynn of Mattapoisett; his daughters Maria D. Machado and her husband Carlos of New Bedford, Cecilia Fernandes of New Bedford; his sister Germaine Rodrigues of New Bedford; 14 Grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Chad Mourao. His funeral mass will be said Tuesday at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours will be Monday 5-8 pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
