Barbara R Chumack

Barbara R. (Gomes) Chumack, 78 of New Bedford, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Born in New Bedford, she was daughter of the late John Gomes and the late Elsie (Martin) Gomes.

Barbara was a communicant of St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish and longtime packer for various commercial fish supply companies.

She is survived by her former spouse, Ralph A Chumack Sr; daughter, Barbara Lynn Chumack-LaMere; sons, John Chumack, Ralph Chumack Jr, Lloyd Chumack; brother, John Gomes; grandchildren, Quiearna, Frankie, Makiah, Araina Parbon, Juan Carlos, Jasmine, Morgan, Lloyd, Shayna-Rae, Raeha, Shevonne, Ryan, Kayla; 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death by her long time partner & fiance, Louis J Andrade; her sisters, Virginia Gomes, Linda Gomes, Carol Gomes, Dale Gomes, Marie Gomes; her brothers, August Gomes, Bobby Gomes, Richard Gomes and Manny GOAT Gomes.

A Memorial Service with her cremated remains will be held Tuesday, June 3rd from 4-6pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can made to St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish.
