Carmina Perry

March 3, 1923 — July 4, 2010

Carmina “Carmen” (Camara) Perry 87 of New Bedford passed away on Sunday July 4, 2010 at St. Luke’s hospital, after a long illness. She was the widow of Manuel Perry and daughter of the late Manuel J. and Maria (Mello) Camara. She was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven all of her life. She was a communicant of the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish. She was employed by various clothing manufacturing companies and also as a waitress for 9 years. She was the treasurer for the Immaculate Conception Seniors for 18 years. She kept close to her family and loved them very much. She enjoyed doing cross word puzzles. Survivors include her sons William Perry of Fairhaven, Kenneth Perry of New Bedford; her daughters Barbara C. Sylvia of Rochester, Deborah J. Gamage of New Bedford; her grandchildren Lynn Ann Poineau, Scott W. Perry, Trevor M. Perry; her great-grandchildren Kayleigh Ann Poineau, Kyrie Ann Poineau, Scott M. Perry; her godchild Michael Arruda; several nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Friday at the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus church. Visitation will be Thursday 5-7pm. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.
