Clotilda Paiva

March 20, 1919 — August 28, 2014

Clotilda “Clo” (Valloura) Paiva 95 passed away on Thursday August 28, 2014, after a period of declining health, at Alden Court Nursing Center. She was the widow of Henry Paiva and daughter of the late Domingos and Jacintha (Mello) Valloura. She was born in New Bedford and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Paiva was a stitcher at Economy Blouse until her retirement. She enjoyed going to Foxwoods, bingo and playing cards with friends on Saturday afternoons. Survivors include her daughter Patricia Paiva of Acushnet; her granddaughter Christine Mercier of Acushnet; her sister-in-laws Eva Furtado of Somerset; Madeline Paiva of Marshfield; Lillian Paiva of Fairhaven; several nephews and godchildren, especially Bob Costa and his wife Maria for their love and devotion to Clo throughout her life. Her family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff at Alden Court and Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care, shown to Clo throughout her stay. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Visiting hours are Friday 4-7pm. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
