Donald Matthews

Donald “Matt” Matthews 77 of New Bedford passed away Friday July 27, 2012 at the Oak’s. He was the husband of Lucinda “Lu” (Rezendes) Matthews and son of the late Charles and Doris (Nickerson) Matthews. He was born in New Bedford and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Matthews was a communicant of St. John Neuman Church. He was formerly employed by Sunbeam Bakery as a foreman in the paint shop. He was a member of the 6 ^th Bristol Club and a softball umpire for many years.  Survivors include his wife; his son Gregory J. Matthews of New Bedford; his daughter Christine Dumont of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, 2 nieces and acousin. He was the father of the late Wayne J. Matthews. His funeral mass will be said Wednesday  9am at St. John Neuman Church. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4-7pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to ones’ favorite charity.
