Doris (Audette) Correia 93 of New Bedford passed away Wednesday January 1, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of William H. Correia and daughter of the late William and Edith (Lanagan) Audette. She was born in Acushnet and lived in this area most of her life. She was formerly employed by the Aerovox Company. Doris played women’s hardball during WW II; she enjoyed fishing, blueberry picking, puzzles and baking for her family. Survivors include her children, James Correia of Dartmouth, William Correia of Dartmouth, Robert Correia of New Hampshire, Carolyn Weathers of New Bedford and Judith Mello of New Bedford. 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the last survivor of her siblings, William R. Audette, Muriel Howland, Hazel Viveiros, Arthur “Bob” Audette and Bernice E. Lilley. Visitation will be from 11am until her service at 12 noon on Friday January 17, 2020. Burial of her cremains will be in Riverside Cemetery.
