Edite A. Gomes

Edite A. (Moura) Gomes 84 of New Bedford passed away Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Care One of New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Joao Gomes and daughter of the late Jose and Alzira (Teixeira) Moura. She was born in Valdegas, Tras os Montes, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for over 50 years. Edite was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was employed as a stitcher for Justin Clothing until her retirement. Her family would like to thank Care One and The Compassionate Care Hospice for the excellent care that was given to their mother these past 6 months. Survivors include her daughters, Ana M. Rego and Celia Youngblood, both of Acushnet; her brother Ernesto Moura of New Bedford; her sisters Alda Cardoso of New Bedford, Ester Cambedo and Lucillia Goncalves both of Portugal. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Monday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Sunday 5-8pm. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
