Fernando DeSousa

Fernando L. DeSousa, 84, of New Bedford passed away Monday, April 16th at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Rosa (Lavado) DeSousa and the son of the late Antonio and Rosa DeSousa. Fernando was born in Villa Cortez da Serra, Portugal and has lived in New Bedford since 1961. Fernando was an automotive mechanic and worked many years at Sharky’s Tire Company.  He enjoyed time with his family and friends and summer time walks on the beach.  Survivors include his wife; daughter Judy DeSousa-Bolton and husband Jeff of Westport; son David DeSousa and wife Sheri of Mattapoisett; sister Elisa DaCunha; grandchildren Justin and Blake DeSousa; many brothers and sister-in-laws; many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 8-10am on Friday April 20th followed by a prayer service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
