Fernando Filipe

Fernando J. Filipe 84 of New Bedford passed away Tuesday October 16 at the Sippican Healthcare Center. He was the husband of Maria Antonia (Gomes) Filipe and son of the late Jose Filipe and Silvina Batista. He was born in Bombarral, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for many years. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Fernando was the proprietor of Fernando’s Pet Shop in New Bedford. He was a member of the Clube Uniao Faialense, and was a fan of the Sporting Soccer Club. Survivors include his wife, his daughter Rosa Oliveira of New Bedford, 3 grandchildren, his great grandson and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brothers and sisters in Portugal and France. He was the father of the late Fernanda Quadros. His funeral mass will be said 9am Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. Visiting hours are Thursday 6-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
