Fernando Silva Jr.

Fernando “Fred” Silva Jr. 71 of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Thursday September 23, 2010. He was the husband of Lucille (Despres) Silva. They were married for 49 years. He was also the son of the late Fernando Silva Figuerido and the late Felisbina (Costa) Figuerido. He was born in New Bedford and was a lifelong resident. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s church in New Bedford. He was a Quality Assurance Specialist for Better Community Living. He was a graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was very devoted to his family and to his career in human services. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed going on cruises, going to Foxwoods and had many friends. Survivors include his wife; his children Michael A. Silva of New Bedford, Debra A Fitzsimmons and her husband David of New Bedford, Susan L. Deschamps and her husband Dennis of Acushnet; his grandchildren Matthew Fitzsimmons, Katelyn Fitzsimmons and Adrianna Silva. His funeral mass with his cremated remains present will be celebrated 9am on Monday October 4, 2010 at St. Mary’s church on Tarklin Hill Rd. Arrangements are by the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. Visiting hours are kindly omitted. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.
