Francisca Soares

Francisca (Correia) Soares 90 of New Bedford passed away after a long illness at the New Bedford Health Care center. She was the widow of Joao Lourenco “Joao Vital” Soares and daughter of the late Jose Goncalves Correia and Maria Do Livamento Goncalves Borba. She was born in Terceira, Azores and had lived in New Bedford for 39 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was a member of the Holy Ghost society of her parish. Survivors include her sons Joao Soares and his wife Nancy of New Bedford and Eugenio Soares also of New Bedford; her grandsons Tim Soares and Johnathan Soares; many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria Samagaio; Jose, Joao, Manuel and Estulano Correia. Her funeral mass will be said Wednesday 9am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery. Her family would like to thank New Bedford Health Care for their kind and compassionate care.
