Gabriel "Gabe" Folco

Gabriel A. “Gabe” Folco 81 of New Bedford Passed away Monday July 6, 2015, after a period of declining health, at the Methuen Village. He was the husband of the late Mary Lou (Rego) Folco and son of the late Arthur G. and Aurore (Ostiguy) Folco. He was a lifelong New Bedford resident. He was the past owner of his family business, Folco Jewelers. Mr. Folco was a graduate of Holy Family High School and Bryant College. Folco’s was the first store in New Bedford to sell TV’s and a young Gabe could be seen putting up antennas on 3 decker houses. He was the past Flotilla Commander and Staff officer of the Coast Guard Auxiliary #1N-605, past member of the Acushnet River Safe Boating Club, past president of the North End Business Association; he was a registered jeweler of the American Gem Society. Gabriel enjoyed boating with his wife Mary Lou on their boat the “Mar Lou”. He was proud to service his country in the U.S. Army in Germany. Survivors include his children Anthony “Tony” Folco and his wife Grace of Dartmouth, Marc Folco of New Bedford; Anne Marie LaPerriere and her husband David of Haverhill, MA. His grandchildren Joshua Folco, Jillian Folco and Alicia LaPerriere. Several godchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dominic Folco. His funeral services will be private.
