Helen O. Mello

Helen O. Mello, 98, of Acushnet, Massachusetts, passed on March 28, 2026, at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on August 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary Olivera. Helen was the loving wife of the late Alfred Antone Mello.

Helen grew up in New Bedford working at Aerovox Corporation and Cornell Dubliner as an inspector along with a range of retail sales and support occupations ranging from Mars Bargain Land, Avon, to Vanity Fair. She was a parishioner at St. Frances Xavier Parish in Acushnet, Massachusetts. Helen enjoyed traveling, being out along the sea shore, and loved visiting family and friends.

In addition to her son, Michael Alfred Mello, and daughter-in-law Mariah Fitzsimmons-Mello, she is survived by grand daughter McKenzie A. Mello, three great grandchildren; Avery, Asacia, and Adriana all of Somerset, Massachusetts. Helen was predeceased by her 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

Visitation hours will be held at the Boulevard Funeral Home on Monday, April 6th from 4pm to 7pm, located on 223 Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 7th at 10am at St. Frances Xavier Parish, sfxparish.com, at 125 Main St. in Acushnet, Massachusetts. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery 664 Allen St. New Bedford.
