Helena Duraes

Helena Duraes 86 of New Bedford passed away Monday October 27, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Antonio Fidalgo and daughter of the late Manuel and Eduarda (Trindade) Duraes. She was born in Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for many years. She was a member of the Assembleia Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Duraes was formerly employed as a stitcher for various manufacturing companies until her retirement. Survivors include her son Paul Fidalgo of New Bedford; her brothers Tony Duraes of Florida and Joao Duraes of Portugal; her sisters Alice DaSilva of New Bedford, Isabel Botelho of New Bedford, Margarida DaSilva of Florida, Eulalia Baptista of Portugal; her granddaughters Claudia Fidalgo and Marta Buchan; also many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Luis C. Duraes, Manuel T. Duraes and Natalia Flynn. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday 9am at the Assembleia Pentecostal Church  215 Sawyer St. New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours are Tuesday 6-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
