Herminia Amaral

Herminia (Correia) Amaral 79 of New Bedford passed away on Saturday June 20, 2015, after a long illness, at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Virginio Amaral and daughter of the late Jose Correia DaLuz and Maria DeMello Correia. She was born in Ponta Garca, St. Michael, Azores and had lived in New Bedford for 42 years. Mrs. Amaral was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was formerly employed as a floor worker at States Nightwear until her retirement. Survivors include her husband; her son Antonio Amaral of New Bedford; her daughters Lucy Leite, Fernanda Campeau, Margaret Amaral all of New Bedford, Julieta Melo and Peggy McMahon both of Canada; her brothers Jose Correia of FL, Joao Correia of New Bedford; her sisters Natalia Medeiros of New Bedford, Eduarda Mello of Acushnet and Conceicao Guerreiro of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said Wednesday at 9am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8 pm.Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
