Ilidio DaSilva Pedreira

Ilidio DaSilva Pedreira, 79, of Acushnet, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Friday, February 17th. Born in Trás-os-Montes, Portugal, he was the son of the late Domingos Pedreira and the late Ana DaSilva and husband of Maria (Pereira) Pedreira. Before coming to the United States in 1968, Ilidio served in the Portuguese Army during the Angola Civil War. After his arrival he began work as a Machine Operator for Acushnet Company. Upon his retirement he continued to work as a landscaper. He was a simple man, who appreciated the small things, he loved spending time with a his family, especially all of his grandchildren. Ilidio was an avid FC Porto fan and cherished his annual visits to his home town of Beça. He could always be found gardening or out enjoying nature. Ilidio is survived by his son, Paulo Pedreira and wife Theresa; daughter, Nancy Pedreira-Alturas and husband Jorge; brothers, Antonio Pedreira, Jose Pedreira; sister, Teresa Escaleria; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ilidio is preceded in death by his siblings; Fernando Pedreira, Joao Pedreira. Fatima Pedreira and a granddaughter. A Funeral Mass will be held for Ilidio on Friday, February 24th at 10:00am at St. Mary's Parish in Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. All are invited to join us before Mass for a visitation at the Boulevard Funeral Home beginning at 8:00am.
