Irene Machado

Irene (Leite) Machado 90 of New Bedford passed away on June 8, 2012 at New Bedford Healthcare. She was the widow of Alfred F. Machado and daughter of the late Manuel C. and Alexandrina (Melo) Leite. She was a lifelong New Bedford resident. Mrs. Machado was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. She was employed as a stitcher for Jemy Sportswear until her retirement. Survivors include her daughter Sandra T. Jackson of North Dartmouth; her brother Ed Leite of New Bedford; her sisters Caroline D’Aguiar of New Bedford, Delfina Machado of New Bedford; her grandchildren Sarah Jackson, Andrew Jackson and his wife Bethany; her great grandchildren Ryan Fermino Jr., Aiden Jackson, Riley Jackson, Benjamin Jackson; several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Olivia Moura. Her funeral mass with her cremated remains present will be held 9am Tuesday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery. Visiting hours are kindly omitted.
