Isaura Medeiros

Isaura (Mendonca) Medeiros 89 of New Bedford passed away Sunday May 10, 2015 at home. She was the wife of Francisco Medeiros and daughter of the late Sirilio and Maria Amelia (Ferreira) Mendonca. She was born in Vila do Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores and had lived for many years in Brazil before coming to New Bedford in 1968. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Mrs. Medeiros was formerly employed as a stitcher at States Nitewear until her retirement in 1989. She is survived by her son Jose Medeiros, her daughter Connie Furtado and her husband Henry all of New Bedford; 3 granddaughters Liz Coimbra, Diana Rymszewicz and Kendra Medeiros; 3 grandsons Jose and James DeMedeiros, David Riquinha and their spouses. 8 great grandchildren Olivia and Nadia Coimbra, Julia Medeiros, Taylar, Jacob and Reese Rymszewicz, Madison Riquinha and Tatiana Gonzales; 1 step granddaughter Karissa Raposo of Florida and 3 step grandsons. She was the mother of the late Cosme Medeiros and sister of the late Guilherme, Ernesto and Jose Mendonca. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Wednesday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
