Joao Ferreira

Joao T. Ferreira 81 of New Bedford passed away Wednesday January 27, 2016 at Care One at New Bedford. He was the husband of Olivia (Carvalho) Ferreira and son of the late Abel Tavares Ferreira and Maria DeLourdes Cardoso. He was born in Linhares, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for many years. Mr. Ferreira was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing as a shell pusher and then at Cliftex until his retirement. His family would like to thank the staff at Care One for the care and comfort extended to Mr. Ferreira. Survivors include his wife; his son Jose C. Ferreira; his daughter Beatriz Mimoso both of New Bedford; his sister Connie Duraes of Fairhaven; his grandchildren Jennifer Ferreira, Ailey Ferreira, Katherine Mimoso, Alex Mimoso and Aaron Mimoso; his great grandson Jordan DaCosta and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Elizabeth Ferreira. His funeral mass will be said Saturday 9am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Friday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
