Joaquina Bogalhas

Joaquina “Jackie” (Pinto) Bogalhas 95 formerly of Acushnet, who resided in South Dartmouth for the past 4 years, passed away at home on Sunday November 8, 2015. She was the widow of Miguel Bogalhas and daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Rodrigues) Pinto. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. Joaquina was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven. She was employed in the clothing manufacturing industry at Arista clothing and Justin clothing. She was a member of the AFL-CIO and attended the Dartmouth Council on Aging Social Day Program. Survivors include her daughters Debra B. Mahan of South Dartmouth, Precinda Coelho, Albina Borges, Alice Riquinha and Nancy Raposo all of Springhill, FL; her sons Jose Pinto of Port St. Lucie, FL ; Americo “Mac” Miranda of Orlando, FL; her brothers Silvino Pinto of Hartford, CT and Moises Pinto of Portugal; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said Friday 9am at St. Mary’s church in Fairhaven. Visiting hours are Thursday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
