Joel Nunes

Private funeral services were held for Joel Nunes 88 of New Bedford who passed away at home on Saturday June 2, 2012.  He was the husband of the late Annie (Rogers) Nunes and son of the late Joseph and Mary (Morey) Nunes. He was a lifelong New Bedford resident.  Mr. Nunes was employed as a guard at Bridgewater State Prison until his retirement.  He was a WWII veteran serving in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Nunes was a longtime member of the Reservation Golf club. Survivors include his daughters Shirley Nunes of South Carolina, Susan Sands of Sandwich and Linda Nunes of Mattapoisett; his son Joel Nunes Jr.; 4 grandchildren 1 great grandchild. He was the father of the late Robert Nunes.
