John E. Rego, 72, of Acushnet, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Born in Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Abel Rego and the late Ernestina (DeSousa) Rego. He was a devoted husband to Ana M. (Gomes) Rego.

After immigrating to the United States in 1970, John worked as a cutter for various clothing manufacturing companies, retiring from Cape Cod Clothing. He was proud to become a United States citizen and had a strong belief in supporting American-made products and veterans' organizations. John enjoyed reading about American history and had a passion for photography and videography.

John is survived by his loving wife, Ana; his son, Jeffery L. Rego, and his wife, Courtney, of New Bedford; and his cat, Jewells.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27th, from 5-8 pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 28th, at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery.

John's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the care and services provided by Community Nurse Hospice, Brandon Woods, and Coastline Elderly Services.
