Jose Goncalves

Private funeral services were held for Jose Carlos Goncalves 78 of New Bedford who passed away Friday February 28, 2014 at St. Luke’s hospital. He was the husband of the late Ilda P. (Verissimo) and son of the late Francisco and Maria da Conceicao Rafael. He was born in Terceira and had lived in New Bedford for 38 years. He was formerly employed as a machine operator at AFC until his retirement. He was an active member of the Portuguese Sports Club and The Sporting Club. Survivors include his daughter Filomena Goncalves and her fiancée Jose Macedo of New Bedford; his granddaughter Stephanie Marques of New Bedford; his sisters Maria Jose Carlos and Maria Zelia Pereira both of Canada; many nieces and nephews.
