Kathleen M. Lemieux

Kathleen M. (Bettencourt) Lemieux, 72, of Dartmouth, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ramona (Sylvia) Bettencourt and the beloved wife of Gerard Lemieux.

A graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1972, Kathleen dedicated her life to nurturing and educating children. She owned and operated a daycare for ten years before becoming an elementary school teacher at St. Anthony of Padua School and St. Francis Xavier School. Kathleen later worked as a substitute teacher for the New Bedford Public Schools and concluded her career at St. Teresa of Calcutta School, where she remained until her retirement.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Gerard; her son, Michael Lemieux and his wife, Jenny; beloved niece Kristi whom Kathleen lovingly cared for as her own; her grandchildren, Alexander Camacho, Andrew Camacho, and Eric Camacho. 

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, with burial following in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
