Leona Souza

Leona (Aguiar) Souza, 98, of Fairhaven, passed away at Alden Court Nursing & Rehab on Monday, July 7, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Manuel Aguiar and the late Evangeline (Arruda) Aguiar and loving wife to the late George Souza.

Leona was the longtime owner and original founder of Leona's Variety Store in Fairhaven. Upon closing the store she worked for a short time at Knapp Shoe and Cornell Dublier. She enjoyed spending her time playing bingo. 

Leona is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret Williams, Diamond Sylvia, Beatrice Aguiar, Mary Aguiar and Irene Aguiar; brothers, Antone Aguiar, John Aguiar, Alfred Aguiar, Manuel Aguiar, Jose Aguiar, and Frank Aguiar.

Her visitation will be Tuesday, July 15th from 10am-11am with a brief Prayer Service at 11am. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 12:30pm.
