Louise R. (Vieira) Camacho, 100, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Joao Vieira and the late Mary (Souza) Vieira and was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Manuel G. Camacho.
Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, with family at the center of her life. She cherished bringing her family together, delighting in entertaining and cooking for her loved ones. Louise also enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was a member of the Massachusetts Dental Wives Association and volunteered at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception School.
She is survived by her daughters: Elizabeth Napier and her husband, Charles W., of East Freetown; Dr. Susan M. Camacho and her husband, Capt. William Hollman, USN, (Ret.), of Marion; Mary Lou Camacho and her husband, Carnig Izmirian, of Denver, CO. Her grandchildren, Brant J. Napier and his wife Michelle of Bluffton, SC, and Travis Napier of Fall River; as well as her great-grandchildren, Hayden Grace Napier and Reese Elizabeth Napier. She also leaves behind her sisters, Dolores Makuch and Agnes Parent, both of Acushnet, along with several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Antone Vieira.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Vantage Healthcare and Rehab of New Bedford and Community Nurse Hospice for their compassionate care.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, with burial to follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery; details will be announced at a later date.
