Manuel Fernandes

Manuel Fernandes 96 of New Bedford passed away Wednesday January 9, 2013 at St. Luke’s hospital. He was the husband of the late Biatriz (DosSantos) Fernandes and son of the late Augusto and Rosa Santos. He was born in Melo, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for many years. Mr. Fernandes was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. He was formerly employed as a tailor for Cliftex and Riverside Manufacturing until his retirement. Survivors include his son Jorge Fernandes of Acushnet, his daughter Maria Patrocina Vinagre of New Bedford, his grandchildren Brian Fernandes, Christine Vinagre and Michael Vinagre, his great-grandchildren Sabria Neves, Genessa Neves, Kayla Fernandes and Emma Kate Fernandes. Also several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joaquin Santos. His funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Friday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
