Manuel Stone Jr.

Manuel F. Stone Jr. 77 of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly, at home on Monday July 12, 2010. He was the husband of the late Mary Joan (Fernandes) Stone and son of the late Manuel Fernandes Stone Sr. and Rose (Bizarro) Stone. He was born in New Bedford and had spent 13 years in San Jose, California. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. He was formerly employed in the garment industry as a cutter and a marker until his retirement. Mr. Stone Jr. was a member of the Clube Madeirense S.S. Sacramento and the Clube Sport Madeirense. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea. Survivors include his son Kevin Stone of New Bedford, his daughter Barbara A. Stone of Houston, Texas; his sisters Rosemary Rodrigues of Fairhaven, Linda Vardo of Florida, Jacqueline Melo of Florida; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Carl Stone. His funeral mass will be said 9am Friday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8pm.  Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.
