Manuel Vilela

Manuel Santos Vilela 65 of New Bedford passed away on Sunday June 13, 2010 at St. Luke’s hospital, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Antonio and Filomena (Magalhaes) Vilela. He was born in New Bedford and was a lifelong resident. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Bristol Community College. He was formerly employed as a surveyor and engineer for the city of New Bedford and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He loved the Red Sox and the Patriots. He was very fond of his dogs Little Boy, Brutus and Penny. Survivors include his wife Linda of New Bedford, his sisters Dolores Marmelo and her husband Antonio of North Dartmouth and Debra Burt and her husband David Norman Burt Sr. of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews. His funeral mass will be said Wednesday 9am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.
