Maria Alice Santos Abrantes Costa

In loving memory of our mother, Maria Alice Santos Abrantes Costa, of New Bedford, age 82, who passed away on September 16 at home surrounded by those that love her most.

 

Alice was a devoted wife and fiercely loved her Evaristo Costa. She couldn’t be without her Vivina, the most dedicated caregiver our family could’ve asked for. She was the loving mother to Antonio Costa and wife, Ilda, Edward Costa and wife, Lorena, Vivina Almeida, Ana Fonseca and husband, Francisco, Teresa Costa, and Raquel (Raquelinha) Costa; grandmother to Nina Schimp and her husband, Brian, Bethany Maxfield and her husband, Joel, Ethan Almeida, Alex Fonseca and his wife, Paula, Ryan Costa, Jeremy Costa, Lyndie Shindel her husband, Kyle, and Hailey Torres. A true matriarch, she also leaves behind many great grandchildren.

Her heart had a special place for everyone she called family and this is what made her happiest.

 

Our mother was one of the strongest, bravest and kindest women I’ve ever known and our family is blessed to call her Mãe.

 

This powerful woman faced every challenge in life with courage and dignity, all the while touching so many with her big heart.

We will never fill the void she leaves, fortunately she does leaves us many wonderful memories.

 

Visitation will be held at Boulevard Funeral Home in New Bedford on Thursday, September 21st from 5pm-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Boulevard Funeral Home on Friday September 22nd at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
