Maria Da Costa

August 29, 1926 — April 3, 2018

Maria C. (Coelho) Da Costa 91 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday April 3, 2018 at Alden Court Nursing Care and Rehab. Center. She was the widow of Antonio Da Costa and daughter of the late Joaquim Coelho and Helena Carvalho. She was born in Assanhas, Portugal and had lived in New Bedford for many years. Maria was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was formerly employed as a stitcher at Cliftex until her retirement. Survivors include her son Jose Da Costa and his wife Doris of Acushnet; her daughters Matilde Rafael and her husband Jose of New Bedford, Inez Valentim and her companion Oliver Ferreira of Acushnet, Alice Pereira and her husband Manuel of New Bedford and Emelia Botelho and her companion Helder Medeiros of Acushnet. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late Sandy Rafael Da Cruz. Her funeral mass will be said Saturday 9am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours will be Friday 5-8pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the ALS ONE Fund 8 Industrial Way Whitman , MA 02382.
