Maria DeMelo

Maria P. (DeSousa) DeMelo, 67, of New Bedford, passed away at home on April 18, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lomba da Maia, St. Michael, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Victorino and Maria Espirito Santo (Mota) DeSousa and beloved wife of Jose DeMelo. Maria was a devoted Catholic and communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and former member of the Holy Ghost Society. She had a heart of gold and always presented a positive attitude. Maria worked for many years as an assembler at Aerovox. She is survived by her husband; her son, Kenny DeMelo; brothers, Antonio DeSousa and wife, Maria L., Joseph DeSousa, Carlos DeSousa; sisters, Maria J. Sousa and husband, John C., Eduarda DeSousa, Fernanda Couto and husband, Antonio, Cecilia Leite and late husband, Jose E., Helen Farpea and late husband, Manuel, Natalia Cirello; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Maria's visitation will be Sunday, April 24th from 3-6pm at Boulevard Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 25th at 10:30am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
