Maria Maranhas

Maria (Mendes) Maranhas 90 of New Bedford passed away at Island Terrace Nursing Home on Tuesday April 26, 2011. She was the widow of Jose R. Maranhas and daughter of the late Luis and Maria (Moreira) Mendes. She was a lifelong New Bedford resident. Mrs. Maranhas was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. She was formerly employed as a stitcher at Bristol Clothing until her retirement. Survivors include her son Uriel Maranhas of New Bedford; her daughters Diane Maranhas-Boucher of Somerset, Nancy Ashworth of East Taunton, her grandchildren Kevin Ashworth and Lori Ashworth, several nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visiting hours are 4-8pm Friday. Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.
