Maria J. Resendes

Maria J. Resendes, 93, of New Bedford, passed at home surrounded by her loving family on December 6th, 2023. Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Francisco Barbosa and the late Maria Conceicao Barbosa.

Maria was the adoring wife of the late Antonio P. Resendes. She was a dedicated home maker and loving mother to her beautiful family of five daughters.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church and a faithful member of the Holy Rosary Sodality.

Maria is survived by her daughters; Carmelia Resendes and her husband, Antonio of Canada, Teresinha Gerber and her late husband, Myron of New Bedford, Dina Marques and her husband, Victor of New Bedford, and Brenda Santos and her husband, Robert of Acushnet.

Maria was predeceased by her daughter Maria L Raposo, and late husband, Antonio of Acushnet and her sister Isabel Cabral of Canada.

She leaves behind her brother; Jose Barbosa of New Bedford and her sisters; Conceicao Rezendes of New Bedford, Cristina Rego of New Bedford, Teolinda Fonseca of New Bedford and Noemia Almeida of Fairhaven.

Maria was the nurturer to her ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 13th from 5-8pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 14^th. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery.
