Maria (Pires) Tiago 87 of New Bedford, passed away Sunday June 20, 2010, at Our Lady's Haven, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Jose Tiago and daughter of the late Joaquim and Emelia (Pires) Morais. She was born in Quintans- Linhares Portugal and lived in New Bedford for 43 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Mrs. Tiago was formerly employed by Cliftex Corp. as a stitcher until her retirement. Survivors include her husband; her sons Jorge Tiago of Acushnet, Armenio Tiago of New Bedford; her daughters Helena Bernardo of New Bedford, Teresa Clemmey of New Bedford, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Wednesday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
