Mark S. Laliberte, 64 yrs old, from Acushnet & later New Bedford, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 at his home after a courageous battle with Advanced Parkinson’s Disease, Diabetes & Open-Heart Surgery twice.
Mark was the life partner of Roy Snow, from Rochester, whom he shared 47 years together as soul mates.
Born in Acushnet, he was the son of the late Edmond and the late Hilda (Lage) Laliberte of Acushnet, MA.
Mark had an exceptional brilliance in the field of science. He followed his father’s achievements as a space enthusiast and theoretical physicist. He graduated from Holy Family, Holy Name High School in 1979 as Valedictorian. He pursued his Psychology & Science Degree at Bethany College in West Virginia.
He was an incredibly talented artist in several diverse pursuits. Whether he was sketching a model, painting a landscape on a canvas, or creating the most calming artistic quilts, Mark could create anything. After college, he designed & created custom outfits for runway models in Italy. His passion for fabrics & colors began at the age of 15, working closely with George the Tailor in New Bedford. He continued designing clothes & patterns until his late 40’s, when his health began to slowly decline.
Mark will always be remembered for his love of self-taught, classical & ragtime piano, his unique breeds of cats: Himalayan, Persian & Sphynx cats, their pug Pugsley, & his rare collection of freshwater fish, the Bluefin Notho from South Africa.
Mark is survived by his life partner, Roy Snow; his dedicated sister, Donna Laliberte of Rochester & Harwich; his sister Michel Ferguson & husband Dean; brother Edmond Jr. & his wife Elizabeth. He also has 2 nieces, Julia & Jennifer, & 3 nephews, Shawn, Michael & Christopher.
Memorial Service will be private.
