Miguel Pimentel

Miguel Pimentel 85 of New Bedford died Saturday July 3, 2010 at the Hathaway Manor extended care facility. He was the husband of the late Maria L. (Raposo) Pimentel and son of the late Joao and Maria Pimentel. He was born in Achadinha, St. Michael, Azores and had lived in New Bedford for many years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Mr. Pimentel was a carpenter and cabinet marker working from the union hall. He was a member of the Carpenters union, he was the past vice-president of the St. Vincent de Paul society and the Holy Ghost society of his parish, and was awarded the Marion Medal representing his parish. Survivors include his son Oscar Pimentel and his wife Sandie of Fairhaven, his daughters Maria J. Simas and her husband Edward of New Bedford, Lucia M. Corba and her husband Peter of New York; his brothers Joao Pimentel Jr. of New Bedford, Norbert Pimentel of Dartmouth; his sisters Rosa Silva and Libania Frias both of New Bedford. 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Larry M. Pimentel and brother of the late Jose and Thomas Pimentel. His funeral mass will be said 9am Thursday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church. Visitation will be Wednesday 5-9pm.Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery.
