Nancy Sweeney

Nancy Ann (Rebello) Sweeney 56, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 after a long illness. She died at St. Luke's hospital. She was the wife of John Sweeney Sr. and the daughter of Alda (Soares) Rebello of New Bedford and the late Arthur "Babe" Rebello. She was born June 28, 1953 in New Bedford and lived in this city most of her life. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church and was married there on February 10, 1973. She truly enjoyed her job as the assistant manager of Bon Worth Clothing in North Dartmouth. She was a lady of strength and spirit. Her greatest joy was her family. Survivors include her husband, her mother, her daughters Veronica Ann Washer and her husband Jeffrey of New Bedford, Melanie Sweeney of New Bedford, her son John Sweeney II and his wife Corrie (Bernard) Sweeney of North Waterboro, Maine. Her grandchildren Christopher Washer, Arthur Washer, Collin Sweeney all of New Bedford, Max Sweeney, Emma Sweeney both of North Waterboro, Maine, Mikayla Frazier of Sacramento, CA. Her brother Robert Rebello of New Bedford. She was the grandmother of the late Jeffrey Washer Jr. Her family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to friends and caregivers, both to many to mention. According to her wishes there will be no visiting hours and she will be cremated. Her memorial mass will be said Saturday, December 12, 2009 12 noon at St. John Neumann Church 157 Middleboro Rd. East Freetown, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Forever Paws Animal Shelter 300 Lynwood St. Fall River, MA 02721 or American Cancer Society  30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701
