Nazare Feliciana Abreu, 84, of New Bedford, passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer on August 20, 2023. She was born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John Edward Abreu and the late Maria Dolores (Quintal) Abreu on June 9, 1939.
Nazare was a graduate of New Bedford High School Secretary School; Fisher Jr. College with an Associates Degree in Business Management - Magnus Cum Laude Honors and Johnson & Wales University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management - Magnus Cum Laude Honors. Her first office job was as secretary to several Chief Executives at State's Nightwear in New Bedford. She later worked as an administrative assistant to the CFO of Borg-Warner Automotive in New Bedford; the Senior Vice President & 4 Vice Presidents of Citizen's Bank in Providence, RI; and Essex Group Management Corporation in Dartmouth, MA. She was a volunteer member at the Museum of Madeiran Heritage & and had a part time job at UIC Inspections.
Her faith and trust in Jesus, our Lord & God and the love of family were her top priorities in life. Nazare took great pride in her completed family research back to her paternal and great grandparents, with back up documents and maintaining family photo albums for future generations.
Nazare is survived by her beloved siblings; brother, Edward Abreu; sister, Philomena (Abreu) Taber and husband, Ernest J. Taber. She was an Aunt and Godmother to George Philip Abreu, Elizabeth Marie Taber and Anthony Ernest Taber, who lovingly call her Tia "Naz." She is preceded in death by her brother, George Abreu and deceased sister-in-law, Barbara Zak-Johnson Abreu.
A visitation will be held at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford from 4-8pm on Thursday, August 24th. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 25th at Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
