Orlando Duarte

Orlando “Lindy” Duarte 89 of South Dartmouth passed away Tuesday August 4, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Theresa Marie (Bergeron) Duarte and son of the late Jose and Isabel (Pereira) Duarte. He was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of his life. “Lindy” was a well-known trumpet player, playing in many bands during his career. He was also a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife; his daughters Elizabeth Boulay and her husband Raymond of New Bedford, Jamie Lavoie and her husband Robert of South Dartmouth; 2 grandsons and 3 great grandchildren. His funeral service will be held 10am Friday at the funeral home. Visiting hours are Thursday 6-8pm. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
