Palmira DeMedeiros

Palmira (Vieira) DeMedeiros 92 of New Bedford passed away Thursday January 22, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of the late Honorato DeMedeiros and daughter of the late Antone Vieira Pereira and Palmira Amaral. She was born in Fayal de Terra, Saint Michael, Azores and had lived in New Bedford since 1966. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Palmira was employed by Calvin Clothing as a stitcher until her retirement. Survivors include her daughters Merilda Resendes of Vermont, Maria DeLourdes Galego of New Bedford, Maria Escobar of New Bedford and Ana Serodio of East Providence; her sisters Luiza Resendes of New Bedford, Lourdes Resendes of Fayal de Terra; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. Her funeral mass will be said 9am Monday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Sunday 5-8pm. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
