Robert Rebello

Robert Rebello 61 of New Bedford passed away on Tuesday September 18, 2012 at St. Luke’s hospital, after a short illness. He was the son of Alda (Soares) Rebello of New Bedford and the late Arthur Rebello. He was also the brother of the late Nancy (Rebello) Sweeney. He was a life long New Bedford resident. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and had taught CCD for 30 years. He was a proud graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School and was a current board member. He worked for the City of New Bedford as a gardener for 39 years. Mr. Rebello volunteered his time at PAACA, PACE and for the St. Vincent DePaul society. He was also a member of the St. Michael club. Survivors include his mother; his two nieces Veronica Washer and her husband Jeff and Melanie Sweeney; his nephew John Sweeney II and his wife Corrie; his brother-in-law John Sweeney; several great nephews and a great niece. His funeral mass will be said 9am Saturday at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Visiting hours are Friday 5-8pm.Burial will be in St. John’s cemetery.
